This is the main sanctum of the Seonun temple in which Sakyamuni is enshrined. It was first built in 577 but burned down during the war at the end of the sixteenth century (Jeongyujaeran) and rebuilt in 1613. Though the temple has many ornaments supporting the eaves, its gable roof is unique. The variety of the inside ceiling containing Unryongdo is prominent and a lotus flower, a symbol of Buddhism was carved around the pillar. Although not particularly luxurious, it gives us a stable feeling. It also helps us appreciate the magnificent atmosphere of the Seonun temple, which is said to be the greatest temple containing 188 yosas, 89 hermitages and 144 caves in the Honam area.
