Learning Drum Playing

The points are used to haengeum(gung-gu). Gung is a weak stroke. In the case of double gung, the drummer raises left hand a little and strikes the drum at the time of string 'gu'. The drummer touches the corner with left thumb at the time of striking 'gung'.
'Ddak', 'dak', 'rak' : Striking the drum face. The drummer strikes ongak, bangak, and maehwa point.
'Dda', ddar : The preceding sound used for double striking. In the case of 'dda', 'ddar', the drummer holds a drumstick with right thumb and index effortlessly and drops it on the drum face. Next to 'dda' and 'ddar', the drummer strikes 'dak(ddadak)' or 'rak(ddarrak') with five fingers forcefully.
'Cheok' : The drummer strikes ongak point(daegak point), the highest point, and at the same time, stops the sound by touching the drum face with left hand.
'Deo' : The drummer strikes the drum face with the drumstick held by right hand.

The below part of the western musical score marks the striking point of left hand(gung), and the upper part marks that of the right hand(drumstick).

※ Jungmori

Jungmori is composed of quarter 12 beats. Generally, its speed is (MM)=72, but sometimes more fast or more slow.
One jungmori beat is divided by four division(3×4=12). This four divisions are equivalent to starting, developing, deciding, enclosing.
That is, the principle of cycle such as starting, developing, deciding, and enclosing is the philosophical principle of jungmori beat.
